There's nothing worse than being under prepared on a luxury vacation with the ladies, but overpacking is just as burdensome. Wondering what to bring on your all inclusive trip to Mexico? From beach lounging to hiking & partying into the wee hours, you'll need a range of versatile items. By following this list, you'll be ready for anything – just be sure to leave room in your suitcase for a few souvenirs to bring back.
Apparel If you're planning to spend a lot of time basking on the sand & wading in the crystal clear waters, one swimsuit isn't going to cut it. Bring a backup so you can rotate them throughout the trip & be sure to pack a sundress or a cover up to toss on when you want to head off the beach to grab some lunch. As far as footwear goes, you'll need a pair of supportive sandals that are appropriate for trekking around town with your girlfriends. You'll also want to include a pair of fearless heels & a dressier ensemble to don when you're galavanting to the city's hottest bars & clubs. Temperatures fall after dark, meaning you'll want to have a cardigan or a light shrug for your nighttime adventures.
Beach basics You won't want your favorite handbag to get damaged by the sun & sand, so be sure to bring a straw or canvas tote that will fit all your beach essentials. It can also be helpful to bring a hat to shade your face & cover your scalp from the strong Mexican sun. However, even the widest brim isn't enough protection, so be sure to pack sunscreen that's at least SPF 30.
Toiletries Many all inclusive resorts provide soaps, shampoo, conditioner, lotion & other bath products for their guests. Check ahead of time, & if these toiletries aren't provided or you want to bring your own, make sure to place them in a Ziploc bag in case they burst open in your suitcase. As humidity is high in Cancun, it's not worth it to pack a bevy of hair products – but USA Today advised that you will definitely need an anti-frizz serum to keep strands under control. Since you're also exposing your hair to a lot of sun & possibly saltwater, conditioner is also key for keeping tresses touchable.
Extras Don't forget to bring a camera & a journal to record all of your memorable experiences. You might want to share them with fellow Beach Bums later on!
